Vendredo Keiko

Keiko is my neutered boy, he is a seal pointed Tonkinese Variant, which just means he is the colouring of a siamese. He is the son of a Blue point boy, Koinonia Blue Reign and my seal tonkinese girl, Vendredo Cappuccino. Keiko was one of a litter of seven, I did have him on the for sale list, along with his brothers and sisters, but by the time he was six months old I still hadn't found him a home.
Eventually, some people came to me and said if I was prepared to give him away to them, they would give him a good home.
By this time, Keiko had learned to get under the bedcovers and liked to stretch out and sleep the length of my back. He was always so easy going and good natured, the kids and I could do just about anything with him.
I told the people he was pretty much one of the family by now and wasn't going anywhere.
He got his name for a couple of reasons- of the seven kittens, he was always the noisiest. He demanded attention, loudly, as soon as he realised there were people around. His name was originally Caco -short for cacophony- because of the noise he made. By the time the kittens were 2 weeks old, this boy was easily twice the size of the others. He looked like an older kitten. We changed his name to Keiko- he is named after the killer whale star of "Free Willy"

Jolichat Nemesis

I bought Nemesis from another breeder, Vera Stickney, when I decided to embark on a Tonkinese breeding programme. Nemesis is a seal tonkinese he was the son of Chindah Orlando,a seal burmese, and Minghuar Maroosia (Roo), a seal point siamese.
Nemesis sired kittens to Yo and girls owned by other breeders.
He is a big boy, was always very friendly, affectionate and energetic. Nem no longer lives with us, he was neutered and placed into a pet home with a family that adores him as much as we did.

Vendredo Ravens Reiki

Reiki is the son of Nemesis and Yo. I kept him as a stud cat, hoping to buy in an unrelated female to breed him with.
Reiki has a special name and a special story behind his name. He was born by caesarian several hours after the rest of the litter. I was talking to an online friend by the name of Ravenlea who is a Reiki master (reiki is a kind of energy healing) - she told me I didn't have much time to save this kitten and she stayed up, continuing to send reiki while I rushed Yo to the vet.
An ultrasound showed there was still a kitten in there, the vet couldn't detect a heartbeat.
About an hour later, the operation had been performed and the kitten was delivered. He was lifeless and not breathing. While the vet was stitching poor Yo up again- a lengthy task- I set about reviving the kitten... holding him upside down, vigourously rubbing him, and even giving him mouth to mouth.
The Vet was telling me dont get my hopes up, he is pretty sure the kitten has been dead over an hour.
Then the amazing happened, I felt a heart beat, the kitten started gasping...he was alive at least.
His little feet and nose went from purple to bright pink. The Vet listened to his chest and heart before we left and told me there was still a lot of fluid on his chest, he thought it was amazing the kitten had come round at all- but once again told me not to get my hopes up.
On the way home, a 30 minute drive, the danger was that the baby would get cold. It's a bit hard to drive and hold a kitten, so I did the only thing I could, I shoved him inside my top.
I put him in with his litter mates and mother when she started to regain consciousness and I slept nearby on the couch. I was woken by little Reiki, screaming... Yo had rolled on him and he was too weak to escape from her. SO the first night was spent with me propped upright, with a wriggling kitten down my bra.
He wasnt able to suckle at all, and the only way to get food into him was through a tiny tube directly into his stomach. I would introduce him to his mother and try to get him to suckle and tube feed him when he didn't.
I told my friend Ravenlea of the difficulty with feeding him and she offerred to send more reiki next time I tried. She did, and 24 hours after he was delivered by Csec, Reiki was suckling along with his litter mates, as if nothing had ever happened to him.
Reiki has sired many fine kittens. I thought I would always keep him. The risk of keeping boys entire for stud work is that it changed their personality. Sadly, once Reiki started as a working boy, he lost his desire for human companionship. He developed some territorial habits which made it impossible for me to keep him indoors.
I was fortunate enough to find a very good home for him as a breeding boy- he now lives in Queensland, Australia.
I have kept his last kitten, Marshie, the result of an accidental mating to his mother.
